Danish duo Vinyl Floor are set to release “Mr. Rubinstein”, the opening track from their upcoming album Balancing Act, on October 31st, 2025. The single offers the first glimpse of what promises to be another chapter in the band’s evolving sound.

“Mr. Rubinstein” is inspired by real events, exploring the clash of egos when an artist and a critic lock horns. Every note reflects the tension and drama of that encounter, making it a compelling listen from start to finish.

Brothers Thomas Charlie Pedersen and Daniel Pedersen recorded the track at Studio Möllan in Sweden, collaborating with producer Emil Isaksson. Mixing and mastering were handled by Søren Vestergaard at the Shelter, while special contributions from Bebe Risenfors (who has worked with Tom Waits) add layers of horns. Christian Ellegaard’s string arrangements bring a haunting, cinematic quality to the track.

A departure from some of Vinyl Floor’s previous work, “Mr. Rubinstein” moves slowly and deliberately. Piano, organ, and strings dominate the arrangement, creating a moody, introspective atmosphere. The single edit runs 4:13, slightly shorter than the album version, which will appear on Balancing Act when it drops February 27th, 2026.

Since forming in 2007, Vinyl Floor have built their sound on a foundation of 60s and 70s British rock, layering it with their own modern sensibilities. With tours across the UK, Germany, and Japan, they’ve played over 200 shows. Balancing Act will mark their sixth full-length album, following Funhouse Mirror (2022), Apogee (2018), Vaudeville (2014), Peninsula (2012), and Do You Still Dream (2009).

“Mr. Rubinstein” releases October 31st, 2025 via Karmanian Records—a track fans and newcomers alike won’t want to miss.
