I Musici Gemelli

Hello! What’s the best part about making music with your brother? There must be something special about that connection.

The best part of making music with my brother is how natural everything is. We’re twins, we chose the same path, and we grew up together in music. This allows us to communicate spontaneously, almost instinctively—often without even needing words. There is a deep harmony between us, built up over time through shared experiences, hours in the rehearsal room, and many performances side by side.

You talk about each piece becoming a dialogue between the two violins. What’s your favorite moment when that really comes alive in The Art of the Duo?

One of the most significant moments when the dialogue between the two violins truly comes to life is in Giovanni Battista Viotti’s Duo No. 2, Op. 29. In this piece, the two parts intertwine masterfully—there is never a true soloist, but rather a continuous exchange of musical ideas. Viotti’s writing highlights the equality between the two instruments, and we, as brothers and musicians, completely identify with this dynamic. Each phrase seems to arise from mutual listening, transforming the piece into a lively and profound conversation.

When you were putting together this album, which piece made you most excited to share with listeners?

Without a doubt, the first track on the album. It’s the ideal starting point because it encapsulates the spirit of The Art of the Duo. Sharing it was like saying, “This is who we are, and this is our duo.”

Growing up together in Foggia, do you have a favorite memory of when you first discovered the magic of playing violin duos?

We have been playing together since we were children—almost without thinking about it. I remember that when we were about seven or eight years old, we started making up little tunes together at home. It was fun to discover how our violins could respond to each other. That was the first time we realized that playing as a duo was something special, and it has been that way ever since.

What do you hope people feel when they listen to The Art of the Duo for the first time?

I would like those listening to The Art of the Duo for the first time to feel at home—in a warm and familiar place where music brings everyone together.
