Vinyl Floor return on January 16th with their latest single “The Swan of Eileen Lake,” a piece that did not quite end the way it began in the best possible sense. What started as songwriter Thomas Charlie Pedersen’s exploration of overwhelming beauty gradually morphed into something more tangled and human. The result is a track that balances admiration with unease, joy with a flicker of envy, and the bittersweet reality of watching someone young and fearless step into the world and inevitably leave emotional wreckage behind.
Musically, the band build their scenery with piano foundations and lush vocal stacks, while drums and bass keep a gentle forward motion beneath. Sara Andreasen’s vocal contributions add extra shades to the harmonies, widening the palette and giving the track its sense of depth.
The single was recorded at Studio Möllan in Malmö, produced by Emil Isaksson together with Daniel Pedersen, and finished by Søren Vestergaard at The Shelter, who handled the mix and master with a warm, unhurried touch.
Elegant without being ornamental, “The Swan of Eileen Lake” feels like a quiet moment of reflection captured in song — one that acknowledges beauty’s power, its complications, and its consequences. The single arrives on streaming platforms January 16th.
