“Chill Factor” By Calm Senses

Calm Senses

Julia Thomsen and LunaLight have something figured out with their Calm Senses project. Their new track “Chill Factor” comes out this Friday, November 7th, and I’ve been listening to it more than I expected.

The sea sounds are what got me first. They don’t just sit in the background like some cheap nature recording. They actually move through the whole thing, coming and going like you’re standing on a beach somewhere. Then there are these synths that create this space where you can just exist for a few minutes without thinking about anything else.

What I like about this track is that it doesn’t try to be clever or show off. It just does what it’s supposed to do. Sometimes you need music that lets you zone out, and this delivers on that without any fuss.

They put out “Dreams of Tokyo” back in September, so they’re keeping busy with releases. The Calm Senses project seems to be their way of making ambient music that actually serves a purpose beyond just filling silence. There’s thought put into how these tracks work, how they make you feel.

We’re all dealing with too much noise these days, too many notifications, too much everything. Thomsen and LunaLight get that. They’re making music for people who need a break from all of it, even if it’s just for the length of a song.

If you’re into ambient stuff or you just need something calming while you work or wind down, check this out when it drops Friday. It’s worth your time.
