Interview / Jay Kurdy

Jay Kurdy

What inspired “Wishes, Dreams & Reality,” and what do you want listeners to take from it?

It’s a little dive into what goes on behind my eyes, mixed with so harsh realities I’ve faced. What can be taken from the track is that no matter how rough things get, you can still dream and work hard to make the dreams a reality.

How did you blend nostalgic hip-hop sounds with something fresh in this track?

That’s all down to Paul Joseph the producer. We’ve worked together for years and he knows what I need to get creative, he loves throwing something new at me band being like “hereby go, rap to that” it’s good coz it keeps me on my toes

Your vocal style is bold and gritty—how did you develop that?

Thank my parents, that’s just how I am, no acts or gimmicks, you say bold n gritty those around me say I’m loud and annoying 🤣🤣 ha ha ha

How have rap icons like Tupac and Ice Cube influenced your music?

I think Cube is one of the best story tellers in music and I try to embrace his way of detailing situations and delivering like it’s first parcel every time. I loved Pacs energy and enthusiasm for what he was doing, i bring that to my live shows.

What was the process behind creating the infectious rhythm and basslines in this track?

Who knows what goes on in the mind of Mr Joseph my producer but we’re glad its as wonderful as it is because we’re always guaranteed something different
